Lanlana Tararudee is seeded third in Seoul at No. 61, and she meets Sohyun Park in the second round after the Korean came through her opener.

Tararudee has had the breakthrough season of the two. The Thai has climbed steadily through 2026 and the ranking is earned rather than inflated, built on a compact game that does not break down under pressure. She serves a high percentage, takes the ball early on the backhand, and has the court coverage to survive long exchanges on a slow surface.

Park is the home player, and that is worth something in this building. Seoul crowds are loud and they stay with Korean players through bad patches. Park's route to an upset is to make this scrappy, extend points, and hope Tararudee tightens up as the favorite. Park was a heavy underdog in her first-round assignment and produced enough to advance, which suggests she is playing with freedom.

The gap in baseline quality is real, though. Tararudee has more margin on both wings and a better first serve, and she has handled seeded pressure before this season.

Tararudee in two, with the crowd making the second set louder than it is close.
